Neurodermatitis is a chronic condition characterised by extremely itchy patches on your skin. Continual scratching of these patches can produce areas of hard, leathery scale. It is most common in women aged 30-50.
Neurodermatitis commonly affects the upper nape of the neck. The scaly patches caused by scratching in this area can constrict hair growth.
Treatment for Neurodermatitis
Neurodermatitis can be very difficult to treat. Success depends partly on how much you are able to resist scratching the itchy skin.
Clearing the scaly, leathery patches associated with neurodermatitis takes time. At the Philip Kingsley Clinics, we offer treatments with prescription creams that soothe inflammation, discourage build-up of the plaques, and also reduce skin-cell turnover.
Cradle cap most commonly occurs in the first three months of a baby’s life. The good news is it can be easily treated, and the baby is likely to be unaware of the condition.
A good scalp environment refers to a scalp that is absent of excessive oil or dead skin cell build-up. The benefit is that it optimises healthy hair growth.
